Family Information

One of the most crucial roles of an educator is to collaborate authentically and effectively with students’ families. Trust is a foundational component of partnerships between families and teachers, and a trusting relationship begins with teachers who are committed to and respectful of all families.

We strive to take a culturally-responsive family engagement approach. This approach involves practices that respect and acknowledge the cultural uniqueness, life experiences, and viewpoints of classroom families as well as draw on those experiences to enrich and energize the program’s curriculum and activities.

Consistent and relevant communication concerning your child is a necessary component for both families and teachers. I offer a variety of ways we can stay connected, both written and virtual.

We are committed to developing a variety of family engagement opportunities that fit today’s diverse families’ lifestyles, issues, and beliefs about their role in their child’s education. Some examples of family events and opportunities to engage are: family help days and open houses, invitations for family members to share their knowledge and expertise, work trade opportunities for tuition reduction, and informal community gatherings in the Garden.
